| 72002 Chance Vought F4U-5N Corsair. A big brutish beast of an aeroplane, much different in detail to the WW2 variants. The HIGH PLANES MODELS kit captures the shape of this aircraft very well indeed, partly as a result of measurements made of a real F4U-5 when it was still in New Zealand. This accuracy is unlike the product out of Italy which has a myriad of serious problems, including no forward fuselage extension, a ratty canopy, a poor prop, etc, etc. If you are a discerning modeller you will buy and build ours, and you will not be disappointed with the resulting replica. Decals are included in the HIGH PLANES MODELS kit for two of the overall flat black aircraft with red codes as used in Korea, an Argentinian Navy aircraft, and one from the Honduran Air Force during the Honduran/Salvador soccer war which actually shot down a Mustang or two. High Tech and others do make resin update sets for the F-4U-5, but for some strange reason advertise them for the Italeri thing, which brings up in my mind the question of their knowledge and credibility. Cheapness and slightly easier to build should not be substitutes for quality. | |
