Clearly this is not your run-of-the-mill Canberra. Developed for the high
altitude reconnaissance role, as is obvious by the wings, only were produced.
Sources vary as to what was what, but as far as we can see, beakdown was:
Group A 53-3977 to 53-3982,RB57D, also known as dash zero
single seaters, no in flight refuelling capability.
Group B 53-3970to 53-3976 RB57D, dash one single seaters,
with IFR.
Group C 53-3964 to 53-3969, RB-57D-2,dash two two seaters
and
Group D 53-3963 RB57D-1,single seater, one only.
If the above is wrong, sorry, it is the best I can do.
This kit is obviously of the D-2, the two seaters. These served in the
ELINT role until they were withdrawn from service due to wing problems...
Even so, there was nothing to replace them with, so after wing strengthening
mods, 12 returned to service (I do not know how many were D-2s),
and some remained in service until the mid 1970s.
Kit has decals for 4677DSES and 4025th SRS, 4080th SRW, and extra serials
to enable all 6 to be modelled.
